I am a second generation Spanish American and I grew up speaking Spanish at home. However, I don't understand why most Italian Americans in New York don't speak the Italian language. Has their culture somehow died in the past generations?

I'm currently with my family in northern Italy and will remain here for the next 3 months. Since we're here on business, I find my self stuck in the hotel room 90% of the time. I was wondering if there are any Italian chatrooms that speak on English. I want to talk to an Italian person who speaks English that might be able to inform me of fun things to do here.
Anyone know any? Or know how I could find one?

I met a native Italian on YouTube, and since I took formal Italian classes, I wanted to see how well I could talk with a native Italian speaker.
But what does this mean?

In Italian Class last year, my teacher played us a pop-sounding song in italian. I think it was called "C'e Una Volta" or something similar. If anyone knows the song that I'm talking about or a link to the song, that would be amazing. Thanks

There's been some random Italian dude that's been calling me lately, 11 times in a row while I was rafting the other day. I tried calling him back up, and when he finally did pick up, he just started to talk in italian. Anyone got an idea on how I could find out who this guy is? I've got no clue whatsoever, all I've got is a phonenumber, and I do not know any Italians. I've been to Italy twice, but that was ~10 years ago...
Thanks in advance

I'm trying to learn Italian, so I find it helpful to memorize songs in the language I'm learning. Anyways, I'm looking for a couple of songs that are not so hard to learn and are not so long. I prefer the songs to me romantic or a fun song that does not have any bad things in it. Or maybe some disney songs. Romantic songs are more prefered. Thanks
I really prefer if the song is in the Italian language.

I know the importance of learning another language however my school only teaches spanish and french and latin but latin is a dead language and i have tried and failed at learning spanish and french. The reason behind that i think is because I never had any incentive or ever wanted to learn either. But I really want to learn Italian because my family is still very close to their italian heritage. However all my relatives who know how to talk in italian have passed and I do not have the time to attend formal classes or the money to afford rosetta stone. What are some other cheap ways i can learn the language besides immersion, books and such would help

I found this great site:
http://www.freerice.com
You can practice:
English Vocabulary.
English Grammar.
German Vocabulary.
French Vocabulary.
Spanish Vocabulary.
Italian Vocabulary.
(There's also Famous Paintings, Basic Chemical Symbols, Full List Of Chemical Symbols, Identify Countries On A Map, World Capitals, Pre Algebra Basic Math, and Mutilplication Tables.)
I just though I'd share this because I'm learning German and it was really fun. :]
I have to make this a question, so I'll ask:
What do you speak?
What are you learning?
I speak English nativley.
I'm took Spanish for two years in school.
I'm learning Russian in school.
I'm teaching myself German.
