As most of us know, Italians are the result of a mixture of ethnicities which settled in different parts of the country at different times. Not only were a few local populations present in the peninsula before the Indo-Europeans took over, but their genes were mixed with those of the Romans, Celts, Greeks, Slavics, Arabs, etc. This is why, appearance-wise, Italians come in all shapes and colors. Since the country was politically unified in 1861, the official language has been Italian. However, each region still has its own language (dialect) and traditions, too.
I guess it would be safe to say that culture and religion are the most important unifying factors when it comes to Italian people. Of course I'm referring to those who were born in Italy, and whose families have lived there for many generations. So, there seems to be no problem when it comes to determining these people's nationality. But what about ethnicity? Can we really talk about "Italian" as an ethnicity or is it more of a generalization?

Brits, Italians, Germans, Finns, Spaniards, THE FRENCH, and others are all becoming super-super-super conservative in terms of immigration policies, something which they mocked us for in the past. Seems like they were all okay with it happening on our soil, but are mad pissed now that people are trying to obtain citizenship in their respective countries.

I'm hispanic so i also speak spanish. I want to learn french and italian. So is it better to learn italian first and then french?
I'm told if you know spanish, then learning french shouldn't be too hard.

I'm new at the place where I work. Today I noticed this guy was looking at me all the time and one time he came and had a good look. My mum was talking to the owner and apparently he told her "Oh, I'm in love!" He's Italian and the restaurant/deli I work at is Italian. Then later he came and introduced himself to me. He was so surprised I could speak Italian and said "beautiful!" He's so cute!! Do you think he's interested?

alright ummm for instance, the e and è sound the same since they are both the same vowels. And when listening to them you could possibly here lui e alto instead of lui è alto, like that so it would sound like he and tall instead of he is tall.

I texted a native italian speaker:

"lol non voglio andare a walmart lol"

and he texted back: "lol tu si la frochio malia de chenozio..."

obvioulsy i know my part but what's his? I really only know a few of the words like tu, si, la, and malia.
