Just to give out notes: I'm a 14-year-old American girl, I live in Italy,my school starts in tomorrow, and I'll be a freshman.
My school will be inviting Italian teens from Italian schools this year because they have done it last year. Sometimes in the month the students who wish to visit an Italian school will visit their and the students who wished to become a tour guider for the Italian students will have the Italian students visiting our school and have a tour around.
I remember last year a 14-year-old Italian boy came to visit my school in Vicenza and he first came in Language Art class. I never knew his name, but he had golden curly hair, wore a long sleeved blue collar shirt, black pants, and light brown eyes. He was so cute when I saw him!! I was nervous to greet him or be friends with him because I was afraid he wouldn't reply back to me or thought I was a weirdo.
After that was math class. We had an Italian girl visiting; I was also nervous talking to her because of the same reason. She was in my group and I hardly looked or talked to her. At the month of May, we had another Italian boy (we'll call him Boy 2) visiting in our humanity class. He was also cute. In humanity class last year, many students were misbehaving and showed no respect to the teacher. I was considered bashful, well-behaved, and very respectal last year. The class, along with the Italian boy, was watching a film Hamlet, and many students were misbehaving and talking during the movie. The Italian boy wasn't next to me--- he instead was sitting with a bunch of girls who were talking and always giggling. For the third time, I couldn't bring myself to talk to Boy#2 because I was afraid he'll think American girls are weird. It's like whenever I see them at lunch, library, P.E., or whatever, I'll always avoid them.
I do speak Italian very fluently and I'm still learning. I want to interact with them because I've always want to have foreign friends. The only Italian people I've met that are not teenagers are two women who are my neighbors and a lady who works at a small giro store that my dad and I always go.
Please no rude or stupid answers, grazie molte.
Yeaahhhh, Dadaw Dadaw. Like that'll take interest for them. :\
The question says it all! :] Over the summer I'm planning on learning Italian and I need to learn the phonetics, tones, and the things you learn first, so if anyone has a link to them, please share~ thank you!
@Lily, Ohmygod! Yes! How'd you know? O__O Lol, I'm just playing. No, I'm just deciding on learning Italian now so when I apply for colleges and work, it looks good and I have a higher chance of getting in.
I was thinking of hanging out in the pasta isle at the supermarket.
The Pope came on TV in Italy today and talked about something or other. I suspect they'll have it on worldwide once they get it translated, but you'd have to speak Italian to hear it now. I bet it'll be on the web. What'd the guy say?
I want it to say "health and happiness". I looked it up online, but want to make sure it's conjugated right. Thanks ![]()
do you prefer the dirty talk in Italian with Materazzi or in Port with Figo?
I been learning Spanish for 3 years through school, and I am going to take French in the fall, but I would love to learn Italian. I have checked out a few books/CDs from the library but I am wondering if there are other/better ways? Or if books are the best?
I know common phrases and stuff, but I want to expand my vocabulary, be able to hold conversations with people, and in the end, become fluent in it. I've completed all of these videos and know them like the back of my hand: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=travellinguist&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_676593#g/c/637428AC93A6A99A
How do I expand? I don't even know how to even approach this. Thanks for your time! ![]()
i need to know how you say uncool, or not cool in italian, that and funny or comedian or like funny guy.
My mother tongue is not very different from Italian so I think most of it is correct, but I still have a little doubt, in english it would be:
"Enlightenment(like personal enlightenment) is not congenital, it is self-achievable."
While in Italian I believe it would be:
"Illuminazione non è congenita, si è(or simply "è", dunno) auto-ottenibile."
Is it correct? Could you correct it if it is not and you're sure about your translation please?
Thanks a bunch!
Best Wishes *
On here they deny that most act this way. Most excessively tan, arrogant, greasy, like hair gel, talk ghetto and live off blood money given to them by their parents. Come to New York, New Jersey any Italian populated area and you will see for yourself. Its about 90per. truth. Only 10per do not act this way
Am so glad someone else said this! They don't look white at all. The hate to hear it. My X was Italian. She was dark as hell
I learned it because I find it to be a very romantic language, and I wish to visit Italy one day. Also, the Italian music I have discovered is both energetic and romantic.
So, in the search for "the one," how much of a helper is this aspect?
What is the best site I can learn the Italian language on?
Have any of you learned these two languages in this order?
(my Italian is about Intermediate level)
Does anyone know of an Italian toast? I'm not talking about a toast you give during a formal dinner. Just one for when you're going out with a group of people for a wild night on the town.
I am a 55 year old woman that is very active and also quite interested in the arts. I've been to Italy 8 times, but really don't know of a good place to settle for a while. Any suggestions?
If you speak/know Italian...please translate these two phrases....

3) You can always come visit us, you know.

5) Have you talked to (name) recently?
6) I tried to call (name) the other day but there was no answer. What about you, have you talked to either of them?
7) I've been busy with work and all.
Work and children do keep you busy.

i'm 27 shy/quiet but i've asked "hey any foreigners want to talk?" kind of questions in craiglist .. finally an italian girl answered. seems nice but she's outgoing.
I told her... maybe it will be a waste of time for you to meet me. But i mean, i'm the kind of american that doesn't exist , i'm invisible . i never talk.. and she comes here with an image of Americans as outgoing and fun.
Is it really a waste for her to meet me or should i just try?
By the way this is not for dating, just friendly meet.

I can read, write and speak English, Punjabi, Hindi and some spanish. I want to learn Italian. i have searched online but the pronunciation and grammar is confusing to me. How can I understand it better?
I can speak Italian well, but I never fully grasped the r's, luckily they know what I am saying, but of course I sound like a foreigner clearly when I say this, no matter how well i can say everything else.
Some word like arrivederci, rosa, rossario, etc. I can roll the r's,
But words like "padre" I just can't get that r rolled. What am i doing wrong??

I'm going to be an International Affairs major and i'm looking for a language to go with it. I'm interested in working in the federal government and I'm not quite sure which would be more appealing.
Im much more interested in italian and would much rather work in and learn about Italy/Sicily etc, but I feel like i'd be less useful that Russian?
I also feel like Italian would be much easier than Russian to become fluent in...but would it be practically useless to various agencies such as the CIA, NSA, State Dept, etc?
How you say this in Italian;
Hope everything is good with you and your family, and hope to talk again soon. Miss you, and always think of you"
