My dad speaks fluent Italian. I understand it well, but can't really speak it. I found an Italian class in the area but the class is like really beginner and it's expensive.

I was thinking maybe I can make my dad speak to me only in Italian and I'll answer back only in Italian? Would that work?

Which would be more effective?

I don't know how to read this italian guy?

We have an international student from Italy and I got to meet him yesterday. He let me into my friends building and later I went back downstairs to wash a dish and he was in the hallway with one of his suitemates. I started washing the dish and one of my friends started talking to him and I told my friends to look at my pictures from my trip to Italy. As soon as I said that he perked up and asked who went to Italy. I told him that I did and he asked me where I went. His eyes just lit up and I had his full attention at this point. I told him where I went and he told me that he was from Naples, Italy. I told him that I had went to Naples before by accident and it was a disaster. He got from where he was sitting to come and sit at a table across from me to talk. I told him my story and got up and sat somewhere else. Then I said that I had fun even though I didn't speak English for 2 months. He asked me if I spoke Italian and I said yes and he had a huge smile on his face. And then he asked me to speak in italian in italian and then we started talking in italian. He asked me if I was born in Italy and I told him that my dad was born in Calabria. He told me that his great-grandfather was from Calabria. Then I had to leave and he said bye to me. I saw him again today from a brief moment and he said hi. I don't really describe his facial expressions through all this but he just lit up. When I talked to him, it felt like we were the only 2 people in the room even though there were 2 other people. I'm not used to a guy actually caring what I have to say. I really think that this year we are going to become friends. Is this just an italian guy thing or could he be somewhat interested in me?

Whats the best way to learn italian quickly?

I am part italian and have a decent knowledge of the words , just dont know how to put it into sentances and learn the more advanced words ha. I'm going to rome in april next year so wanna be able to speak italian and my dad would like it to ha.

La Tua Cantante? Whats that mean in Italian? My dad said something like " Are you content?" But the more I look into the phrase, the more I think he is wrong... (My dad needs to refresh his Italian? LOL! He probly does, though) I think La tua Cantante means "The {not sure what word} singer", right?

Thanks for the help...( xD)

My wife and I have been wanting to teach our daughter Italian and spanish. I am originally from Italy but my family moved to America when I was 7 years old. My wife has lived here in America all her life and she is part Italian on her dad's side and part Cuban on her mom's side. Because culture is so important to us we want to teach our daughter to speak Italian and Spanish. She is only 2 years old right now. Is that a good age for her to start learning? And does anyone have any ideas how we can teach her these languages?

My dad recently was talking to the owner of the italian villa when a cabinate swung open, like it was being pulled by a person then it closed again. The owner yelled stop it im busy! when my dad asked who she was talking to she said that they had a ghost. and thsat fotsteps were heard. they think it might be the original owner, have any stories or know if this is true.

what are some italian gangster names?

my sister is meow meow, mom is fiend, dad is canine, dog is animal. i know they are not really italian but we talk like italian gangsters. so what would be a good name for me? im a boy and lists would be great

My brother and father pronounce the word Italian ''Eh-tie-in.'' My mother and I pronounce it ''Eh-tal-yin.'' I've heard some southerners say ''I-tal-yin.'' Most people seem to say it ''Eh-tal-yin'' or something close to that. I honestly have never heard one person say it in the way my brother or dad has. Have you? It seems weird because it'd be impossible to say the word Italy without an L. I have no clue why they'd drop it.

Do Italians really talk with their hands?

I was doing a presentation today, and my friend said I always talk with my hands. And my dad is half Italian. Is that a myth or do they really do that, I'm thinking it's just a coincidence, b/c I don't think it's genetic.

Please tell me your source. This is meant as an informal message to a friend:

Hey, Carlos! What's up? Since when did you become tired of the things you do? God knows you spend more time at high school than everyone else, including the janitors, for your activities. So, why can't you do it in college? Anyway, just wanted to remind you that if you tell anyone what we were laughing about days ago, I'm gonna tell your dad that you became a Muslim. No offense, I have nothing against Muslims, but if you start gossiping like a girl, I will so tell your father! He'll drag your ass back to California, baby! Miss you!
