It is a male talking about a male

I mean, except in pronunciation, Italian and French are even more similar than Italian and Spanish. They share 89% of their vocabularies and the grammar is even more similar than those of Spanish and Portuguese. Do you know if they come from the same variety of Latin, while Spanish and Portuguese evolved from another variety?

I am going to start HS next year... I live north of ATL. They don't have Italian at my HS. They have Spanish, Latin, German, and French. Could I do this instead: http://www.cll.emory.edu/classes.cfm?cla...
I am half Italian, and my grandpa was born in Sicily. My Grandma is from Badie and Coloreria. I always wanted to learn Italian, so I can talk to my Grandpa in Italian and English. He came to NY when he was 9. I don't want to take any of the other languages. Would they let a14 year old do this class? Can I get a HS credit for this? Would college's accept this class? Do you just go up after I? Can they grade myself? Thanks! Any feedback is fine!
I want to go to NYU, so would they accept this? Is it worth it, I am an hour away? Thanks, again!
I am saying, prestige- wise, academics, more to offer... NYU is a better university in these cases, in a general manner. NYU has tons of majors, not as much as an average school. But in your case Emory has more to offer, for your field you want to go into. Emory is one of the top schools in the U.S. Good Luck!

Then how come Latinos do not speak latin?

I am torn between Italian and Romanian. Italian retains much of the vocabulary and sounds of Latin, but Romanian still has a similar declension system (endings of words determine number, function, etc.). Thoughts?

I'm getting my BA in May and am looking for a summer only job in Italy before I start graduate school. I am a native English speaker but I speak Italian fluently. My degree is in Latin and I also have a working knowledge of ancient Greek. I would like to do something like tour guide or teach English (though I have no certification) or work with English speaking tourists since I know Italy and the language so well. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you heard some italians talk? They talk real fast and sometimes it sounds funny. It is almost as syllabic as Japanese. But Japanese and Korean languages(all the altaic ones) get mistaken for a cantonese/viet/filipino language and accent.
Why do the english make fun of italians when their language is based in latin?

I want to learn Italian, but I don't have any money I can spend. How can I learn free?
I want to learn Italian because it interests me more than French or Spanish or one of those languages. Also, though, I would like to learn Latin.

Latin-Roman people ( Spanish,Portuguese and Italians )are so different than Slavic people...
Nordic people( Norvegian,Swedish, German) are also so different than Greek people...
Etc,etc...
But they are all White people...Homo Sapiens people...
Why, how and when did they choose to do the things in different ways ? (languages,cultures,etc..)

How do you say "I fly alone" in Italian and/or Latin? I was led to believe that they were the same but Internet translation sites are giving me various outputs. Thanks!

i speak english as my first language, and i just started latin in school this year. It seems like latin comes pretty easy to me, and its not very hard for me to learn languages, but how hard would it be to learn italian without a teacher, and just a book?

I know the importance of learning another language however my school only teaches spanish and french and latin but latin is a dead language and i have tried and failed at learning spanish and french. The reason behind that i think is because I never had any incentive or ever wanted to learn either. But I really want to learn Italian because my family is still very close to their italian heritage. However all my relatives who know how to talk in italian have passed and I do not have the time to attend formal classes or the money to afford rosetta stone. What are some other cheap ways i can learn the language besides immersion, books and such would help

It's known that Italian has the closest vocabulary to Latin, and Romanian has the closest grammar. If you were to put them together, just how close would you be to recreating Latin (obviously, Latin's still around - I'm just asking this out of fun).
