in highschool im deciding wether to keep doing spanish or go into italian i wasnt sure of taking italian but my parents recommended i take it but im spanish and i think speaking another language will make me lose my knowledge on spanish as i learn italian will it be easy to speak knowing that they are both romance languages and derived from latin

On here they deny that most act this way. Most excessively tan, arrogant,greasy, like hair gel, talk ghetto and live off blood money given to them by their parents. Come to New York, New Jersey any Italian populated area and you will see for yourself. Its about 90per. truth. Only 10per do not act this way

I would like someone who actually speaks Italian please. Online translators are completely innacurate.

My parents are from Argentina, and Spanish was my first language until I was 2... but living in America I lost my accent. But I can still speak Spanish pretty well, except my grammar is off because I was never formally educated on the language, I just learned by ear... My parents would speak to me in Spanish and I would respond in English.

So, is Italian easy to learn if the person already knows Spanish?

I'm fluent in Spanish thanks to my parents and since it's my first language. I'm fluent in English as well since it's my second language which I learned at a young age from school, friends, etc. I only speak spanish at home or when the moment calls for. I speak English to and with all my friends at work so it is my main language. Would it be easier for me to learn Spanish to Italian or English to Italian? I'm referring to txt books and such. I have been with my boyfriend (he's from and currently living in italy) for a year. We met in Italy, i'm Italian-American, born in america,I speak english as a first language and I learned Italian from my school and speaking with him and friends. I love him so much and he has visited me in America for 3 weeks once, but the one thing that bugs me about him is that he absolutely refuses to speak english with me. When he was in America he walked around speaking italian and people started to think I was a tourist as well! We even got pulled to the side at AMERICAN Airlines and I everytime I tried to speak the asshole would tell me to shutup until I got *searched down* and the guy said *she doesn't speak english she's from italy* ..that's when I screamed I'M AN AMERICAN I SPEAK english!! ...grr sorry anyway..lol I always ask him and he either has an excuse or he says it's too difficult...we have been together long enough to not be embarassed or shy if he is not speaking perfect english..i don't even speak perfect italian yet! ..that's the other thing he talks to me in italian like i'm a 7 year old learning...he showed my parents around Rome and when my mom came back to his house she said she didn't know what I was talking about him not speaking english b/c he speaked enough with them to understand him (phrases here and there)..alot of his friends in italy speak english practically fluent ..probably like how i speak italian, i understand them perfect...i asked him why he speaks english almost behind my back and he said he thought they didn't understand him..then i say our friends talk to me sometimes in english sometimes in italian and he says *ya but it's not GOOD english*.....another excuse he had in the past was work (he would work 12+ hour days.) that's understandable..now it's been a month since he's stop working 12 hour days and has more free time and he still doesn't want to learn it..then i will try to say like..*hi! ..how are you?* and he answers in italian...!!!!?!?!?!?! ...I really see myself marrying him someday but I want him to respect my culture and want to come to America here and there if we ever have a family one day...I know my blood is italian but I was born in America and proud of it..i don't want to move to italy and forget who I am....any advice? ...thanks!

i have alot of italian in me but i do not know anyone who can speak italian and i really want to learn but my problem is my high school dont offer it and my parents say i have to pay for any thing to help me learn because they dont have the money to pay for it. so i guess im asking what is the easiest and cheapest way to start learning italian.

I only speak Italian to my parents (they talk to me in Italian, I respond in English), and I took French immersion in grade school til I was 5 - 13, but I forgot a lot of it. And my Italian sucks, but I can get by. With French I barely scrape by, and it sucks a lot.

So...

Do I say I only know one language? (English). Or two, or three?

I'm italian and this year in school we're really studying our heritage. its fun. i've always been interested in learning, and i tried last summer but i couldn't stay motivated. it isn't offered as a language course at our school and i really wanna learn! i know bits and pieces, but can't speak in sentances. any advice will be appreciated!
my parents are both italian... actually my moms only half but they aren't fluent. they're parents stopped speaking italian when they moved 2 the US.

My boyfriend lives in Rome, Italy and his parents don't speak english. . . so I'm now learning to speak Italian..as they are learning english. I'd like to know more about the culture...topics of conversation...and ways to fit into an Italian family?
